October only a week away, visitors to the Cumberland County Fair in Maine got a little taste of Fall early. The 20-th Annual Pumpkin Weigh-In contest produced some massive displays. Most of the pumpkins weighed hundreds of pounds and took several people to lift onto the official scale, but the winner in the adult class weighted one-thousand-28 pounds. For the second time in a row, the winner of the child division was Rebecca Strout from Cape Elisabeth, whose pumpkin weighted in at 568-pounds. Most of the pumpkins will be turned into boats that will cruise the Damariscotta River in October.
